Lens Design
Digital – Lenses are created in a unique way that allows for an extraordinary degree of precision. This new technology also allows for the creation of individually-customized lenses that provide the wearer with a wider field of view, improved contrast and the most accurate, clearest vision possible. This exciting new technology is available in single vision and progressive lens designs.
Single vision – Lenses are all-purpose and available in all materials. They can be used for either distance vision, intermediate vision or near vision correction.
Progressives – (no line) correct distance vision, intermediate vision and near vision- all in one lens- while providing the most natural vision of any multi-focal lens. Progressives are available in all lens materials.
Bifocals – these lenses provide both distance and near vision correction in one lens.
Trifocals – These lenses correct distance vision, intermediate vision and near vision in one lens, but with visible lines.
Thinner, flatter lenses – Theseare recommended when a prescription is strong. Flatter lenses enhance lens appearance by reducing-edge or center thickness. They are lighter-weight and can provide improved edge-to-edge visual clarity by utilizing an aspheric or a toric design.
Specialty – Lenses that are recommended when certain work-related or recreational pursuits require the use of glasses for the best visual protection and/or performance. Some examples include computer glasses, safety glasses, and sports glasses.
Lens Materials
Plastic – This is the standard material for lenses and can be tinted to almost any color and shade.
Thinner, lighter high-index – These lenses are available in several different degrees of thinness. High index lenses create a thinner profile for those with strong prescriptions. These lenses are more comfortable, more attractive and lighter in weight than standard plastic lenses.
Phoenix or polycarbonate – These lenses are recommended for because they are lightweight, yet are the most impact-resistant lenses available. Phoenix lenses offer superior clarity and are lighter than polycarbonate lenses, and are suggested for everyday wear.
Blue Light Filtering – As we spend more time staring at monitors, iPads, and smartphones, we increase the amount of blue light we’re exposed to — and that’s where blue light filtering glasses might help with eye strain..
Lens Treatments
Photochromic – lenses darken and lighten according to light exposure. If the wearer is in the sun, they get darker; if indoors, the lenses get clearer.

Anti-reflective – treatment allows people to see your eyes rather than the glare from your glasses. An anti-reflective treatment allows you to look better and see better. By removing distracting reflections, A-R lenses are great for computer use and provide added safety for driving at night by reducing glare from headlights and street lights.

Polarized – lenses are the top pick for eliminating glare. Hunters, boaters, anglers, golfers and drivers can all benefit from polarized lens’ glare-cutting properties. They also offer 100% UV protection while increasing visual clarity and depth perception. For driving or outdoor activities, no lenses are better.
Tinted – lenses can be tinted from light to very dark. Tints for sun lenses are usually medium to dark shades, and can either be solid throughout the lens, or gradient tinted from darker to lighter (top to bottom) or clear at the bottom. Tints also come in a rainbow of customizable color options.
